Polycarbonate
The lightest material available. The most impact resistant, strongest and safest material. Coated to improve scratch resistance. Absorbs 99% of ultraviolet light. Up to 25% thinner and 35% lighter than plastic. Recommended for children, when safety is the major concern.

Trivex (Phoenix)
Trivex has the impact resistance and inherent UV protection of polycarbonate. Trivex may be slightly thicker than polycarbonate, but is lighter, and can be surfaced to the same 1mm center thickness. Trivex rises above polycarbonate with both its optical quality and suitability for drill mounting, however since Trivex is still a relatively new product, availability may be limited.
